No domingo (7), o Duque e a Duquesa de Cambridge chegaram por volta das 17 horas (hora local) em Nova York para uma visita oficial de quase três dias. Com a agenda cheia de compromissos, os membros da família real britânica, que estão hospedados no hotel The Carlyle, já tiveram o primeiro evento horas após a chegada. Príncipe William e Kate Middleton compareceram a um jantar privado oferecido pelo milionário britânico Sir Martin Sorrell com intuito de arrecadar dinheiro para a fundação do casal.
On Sunday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived in New York for an almost three day official visit. The royal couple’s schedule is packed and only hours after they checked in the Carlyle Hotel they had the first event. Prince William and Kate Middleton attended a private fundraiser hosted by Sir Martin Sorrell in his midtown apartment.
Na segunda (8), o casal se separou por algumas horas. Kate visitou, junto com a primeira dama da cidade, o Centro de Desenvolvimento Infantil Northside no bairro do Harlem e participou de um almoço na casa do Cônsul Geral Britânico. Já William fez um bate e volta para Washington, onde encontrou o presidente americano Barack Obama no Salão Oval da Casa Branca e fez um discurso no Banco Mundial sobre comércio ilegal de espécies ameaçadas de extinção. No começo da noite, Kate voltou para a residência do Cônsul Geral Britânico acompanhada do marido para uma recepção, que contou com a presença de Hillary e Chelsea Clinton. Mais tarde, eles assistiram uma partida da NBA entre os times Brooklyn Nets e Cleveland Cavaliers e aproveitaram para conhecer o Jay-Z e a Beyoncé.
The couple had to spend hours apart on Monday. Kate visited the Northside Center for Child Development in Harlem with the First Lady of New York City, Chirlane McCray and attended a lunch hosted by the British Consul General in New York. Prince William flew to Washington where he met with President Obama in the Oval Office at the White House and gave a speech at the World Bank about the fight against illegal animal trade. With William back in New York, the couple went to the British Consul General’s residence and were joined by Hillary and Chelsea Clinton. The reception had the purpose of recognizing the work done by some of William’s charities. Later that evening, Kate and William watched a NBA game between Brooklyn Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers alongside Jay-Z and Beyoncé.
